The short answer
I build stores on Shopify and on Shoptet, so I have no reason to push you to either. Shoptet fits a store that sells mainly in Czechia and Slovakia and runs well. Shopify pays off when you sell abroad, want a store shaped to your brand or want to grow with apps and integrations.
The prices below come from the official price lists on 3 November 2026. Check them again before you decide, because they change.
What the platform costs each month
Shoptet lists its prices without VAT. This is the Slovak price list:
| Plan | Per month |
|---|---|
| Basic | €16.50 |
| Business | €55 |
| Profi | €91 |
| Enterprise | €173.50 |
Paying a year ahead is 10% cheaper. The Czech price list is in Czech crowns: Basic 440 CZK, Business 1,490 CZK, Profi 2,490 CZK and Enterprise 4,690 CZK a month without VAT.
| Plan | Paid yearly | Paid monthly |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | €19 | €27 |
| Grow | €56 | €74 |
| Advanced | €289 | €384 |
On both platforms you also pay for some add-ons or apps. On Shopify, invoices, cash on delivery and Packeta usually come as apps. Their prices vary, so ask for the list before you decide.
Payment fees: the catch for Slovak stores
Shopify has its own payment gateway, Shopify Payments. According to Shopify's list of supported countries, it works in Czechia, Poland, Hungary, Germany and Austria, but not in Slovakia.
Without Shopify Payments, Shopify adds a fee to every order paid through another payment provider: 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow and 0.6% on Advanced. It comes on top of the provider's own fee. Cash on delivery and bank transfer are manual payment methods, and Shopify does not charge this fee on them.
Shoptet has its own gateway, ShoptetPay. On the Slovak price list, card payments start at 1.8% + €0.32 per payment on Basic, 1.6% + €0.22 on Business and 1.4% + €0.12 on Profi.
A 12-month example
A worked example, not a client: a Slovak store that takes €5,000 a month by card, so €60,000 a year. It counts only the platform and the Shopify fee. The payment gateway's card fees and the apps come on top in every case.
- Shoptet Business, paid monthly: 12 × €55 = €660. Paid a year ahead: €594.
- Shopify Basic, paid yearly: 12 × €19 = €228, plus 2% of €60,000 = €1,200. Together €1,428.
- Shopify Grow, paid yearly: 12 × €56 = €672, plus 1% of €60,000 = €600. Together €1,272.
The same store based in Czechia, with Shopify Payments, pays no extra fee: Shopify Basic then costs €228 a year plus the card rate of Shopify Payments. The plans do not include the same features, so compare what your store really needs. The rule of thumb: for a Slovak store paid mostly by card, Shoptet is cheaper to run. With mostly cash on delivery the gap shrinks, because the fee does not apply to it.
When to stay on Shoptet
- You sell mainly in Czechia and Slovakia.
- Your store depends on Shoptet add-ons.
- Your store works and a move would not pay off.
- Most orders are paid by card in a Slovak store, and the extra fee would eat into your margin.
If that is your store, moving will not make you money. Put the effort into the store you have: product pages, checkout and campaigns. An e-shop audit shows where to start.
When Shopify makes sense
- You sell abroad, or plan to.
- You want a store shaped to your brand.
- You want to grow with apps and integrations.
- Your company is in a country where Shopify Payments works, such as Czechia, so the extra fee does not apply.
